Discovering your secret sauce takes diligence and focus. Not many people follow through with diligence. Some fail because of lack of awareness while others simply lack the strength to take them through with resilience due to bad experiences in this life. Solomon, the wisest man that ever lived, stated that lack of counsel is the main cause of failure. He admonished us to gather a multitude of counselors in order to succeed. The problem is that many counselors have not also found their secret sauce. Many would be counselors are still complaining that counseling is not meaningful in their world. What a tragedy!
How then can one find their secret sauce?
The first step is to follow the wonderful counselor. The wonderful counselor gives grace and truth whereas those before him gave us the law. A counselor who follows the wonderful counselor does not show others what he or she knows but rather who he knows. It is Holy Spirit who brings transformation not our academic qualifications. The academic qualifications are important only when their foundation is on the one who is the greatest teacher. This takes us to the second step.
A trained counselor may obtain quality ministry training to multiply their impact in transforming lives. This training can be taken concurrently with counseling work as it is online. As a student you will be joining a multitude of counselors or ministers to transform people for eternity. This takes us to the last step.
A counselor will not grow unless he is sharing with others. At the very least, a counselor should be able to facilitate a healing group at the community level.
